eclipse received 99 student applications for this years summer of code (soc) which is an impressive number that perfectly reflects the size/importance of the eclipse project in the open source community. on the other hand this makes handling and reviewing them a vast amount of work. following the call for help i therefore joined the ranks of mentors to help in the process of reviewing the applications. i'm not yet sure if i'll step up to mentor one of the accepted projects afterwards. this depends on whether i find an app for which i feel qualified in a technial sense and if my work load at my day job is bearable.
the results of the selection process will be published after the deadline 11th of april. in the meantime check out the list of project ideas.
